CALL FOR MURAL ARTISTS

We are seeking a mural artist to create an original mural during the Riversdale Art Walk on June 27, 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your work in a dynamic, community-centered event that celebrates public art!Mural Project Details
Dimensions: 8 ft wide x 16 ft tall
Surface: Plywood panels attached to a building
Location: 308 20th Street W (formerly Village Green Thrift Store)
Artist Fee: $1,600 (includes cost of supplies)
Artist receives a flat fee of $1,600 for their work. We will provide the mural surface and prime the panels. The artist is responsible for supplying their own paints, brushes, and materials. Artist is required to be actively working on their mural during event hours on June 27, 2026 from 12 PM – 5 PM as part of the live public art experience.Deadline to complete mural: Within 5 days of the eventWe welcome proposals from both emerging and established artists who are excited to contribute to this vibrant community event taking place in Riversdale. Murals should embody the creativity, diversity, energy, and spirit of Riversdale Art Walk — a celebration of community connection, artistic expression, neighbourhood identity, and cultural storytelling. Your mural can be abstract or representational, symbolic or literal.We strongly encourage proposals from Indigenous artists, artists from equity-deserving communities, and those with connections to local or regional narratives.SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION HERE BY 11:59pm MAY 25, 2026.If online applications are a barrier, please reach out to [email protected] for other formats.Artists are asked to submit a concept sketch or preliminary mock-up of their proposed mural along with their application. This does not need to be a finalized design, but should provide a clear sense of your artistic style, overall vision, and the type of imagery or themes you would like to explore in the mural. We welcome both rough sketches and digital concepts that help communicate your creative approach.Final artist selections will be announced on May 29, 2026. Confirmed artists will receive a formal contract upon acceptance.

Anthology Home Collection – 126 20th St W
Experience the artfulness of flowers and home decor at Anthology. During the Riversdale Art Walk, see the new collection from artist Linda Chartier. Layers of colour, light and beautiful spirit grace her canvases!
AKA Artist-Run Centre – 424 20th St W
AKA Artist-run is non-profit, artist run centre, currently featuring a billboard project with Amalie Atkins titled "Agatha's Almanac". During the art walk, artists from their free studio program will be present and opening their studios to the public, including Chikako Ogawa, Stefanie Smith, Colin Farnan, respectfulchild, Andie Palynchuk and Soheila Fallah.
Art Bar – 229 20th St W
Art Bar is a small performance venue with a lounge/gallery in the front and a blackbox theatre in the back. YOU ARE ART. They will host an art reception with gallery artist Blanche Johnston in the front as well as Sl@t Slam at 7pm, and Myles Bullen with Factor Chandelier Music at 9pm in the theatre.
Christina's Art & Soul Studio – 213 19th St W
Christina Thoen, a recent inductee into the Prince Albert Arts Hall of Fame, has been a professional artist for over 30 years. Now based in Saskatoon, she works from her Art & Soul Studio–where visitors will find live painting and a collaborative artwork for those that want to paint!
Gather Local Market — 414 Avenue B S
Resident artist Chikako will facilitate a "wishes-making” activity using handmade wishing cards. Attendees will decorate them on an inside wall. Featuring an artist talk and short performance. Live music by JJ Guy starts at 7pm until 9pm.
Green Goddess Artisan Shoppe – 504 20th St W
Stop by and enjoy the talents of 35 local artisans. Artist pieces include crystals, silversmithing, beadwork, ribbon skirts, moccasins and more. The shoppe itself feels like you are walking into a forest. Be welcome. There will be a tarot card reader onsite during the artwalk offering $20 mini readings. A number of the store artists will also be onsite!
James Frost Fine Goods – 123 Avenue B S #105
Visitors will experience the artwork of John Moffatt and Mandy Currie within an immersive Bang & Olufsen Beolab 28 sound stage, creating a gallery environment shaped by both visual art and elevated sound.
PAVED Arts – 424 20th St W
PAVED Arts is presenting a solo exhibition of the Edmonton-based artist Kelly Andres entitled "Latent Swamp." The artist describes her work as "an ecology of images made with living plants, machine learning, and water." Visitors will be fascinated by the artist's expression as she continues to explore work at the intersection of science and art. Artist in attendance!
PAVED/AKA Event Space (upstairs)
The Last Kisses in Iran by Elham Zafaremili is a participatory artwork in which visitors collaboratively paint sections of a large canvas that together reveal an image of The Last Kisses, a symbol connected to recent events in Iran. Through this collective process, the work becomes a peaceful act of remembrance for those who lost their lives in the struggle for freedom and a reflection on families separated. Combining painting, video, music, and activities for children, the project invites people from all backgrounds to join in an expression of solidarity and a shared hope for a world without anger or fear. This project supported by Common Weal and in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Society of Global Artists.
Prism Coffee – 218 20th St W
The third installation of the Prism Project is an art exhibition featuring the work of artists Diana Chabros, Grace Ford, and Molly Cooper-Smith. Installed throughout the café’s bright and welcoming space, the show highlights bold contemporary works that invite visitors to experience art in an informal, community-centered setting. Presented as part of the Riversdale Art Walk, the exhibition pairs visual art with coffee and evening cocktails, creating a vibrant gathering place to celebrate creativity and connection.
M.T. Workshop – 226A Avenue C S
MT Workshop is the showroom, studio and wood shop featuring the lighting, artwork, and ceramics made by Todd Gronsdahl and Megan Macdonald. Todd has shown his work all over Canada and the US, Megan's mid-century influenced ceramics have a robust following in California, NYC and all over the world! On March 20, they are sharing an unseen immersive light installation that will teleport you from their humble bunker on Avenue C!
Nefelibata Arts & Crafts – 118 20th St W
Nefelibata is a cozy, thrifty, second-hand arts and crafts store with a focus on community. For the Art Walk, artist Tannis Pratt will be doing a live painting pop up!
Saskatoon Makerspace – #130 209 Avenue D S
Riversdale Art Walk coincides with Exit Through The Woodshop Episode 4–the final exhibition for Saskatoon Makerspace’s current Artist Development Residency Program. This unconventional exhibition showcases the work created over the past five and a half months at Makerspace, where art meets tools and experimentation. Featuring our Lautaro Reyes, Lotus Virviviel and Beni Shen. Artists in attendance!
The Little Market Box – 332 20th St W
The Little Market Box invites visitors to explore, connect, and create with a hot chocolate bar hosted by Those Girls at the Market and a collaborative community art activity led by local artist Ashley of A.Lo Paint. Guests can enjoy their drinks before heading to the back of the shop to contribute to a nature-inspired artwork featuring florals and trees, using acrylic paint and crayons. The completed piece will later be finished by the artist and displayed at The Little Market Box.
The SignSmith – 543 20th St W
An exhibition of hand-painted signs by Dave Smith celebrates the bold visual language of rock ’n’ roll and vintage sign culture. Alongside his original works, visitors can explore Smith’s remarkable collection of restored retro neon signs, glowing with the spirit of classic storefronts and music venues. Owner of The SignSmith and a longtime icon of the Riversdale neighbourhood, Smith brings decades of craft and local history to this vibrant display of lettering and light.
The Two Twenty – 220 20th St W
With the guidance of curator Valerie Wiebe, The Two Twenty’s coworking space will be transformed into an artistic celebration of the world of dandelions–with a participatory element sure to delight visitors of all ages. The humble little dandelion is a powerful symbol of veracity and tenacity, who spreads her seeds everywhere. “Spread Art” is a collaborative installation of all things dandelion, celebrating the power of art to inspire and empower people of all ages.
White Buffalo Youth Lodge – 602 20th St W
White Buffalo Youth Lodge is proud to participate in the Riversdale Art Walk as a part of our 25th Anniversary celebration. Join us in our gym as we reflect on the past 25 years of creativity, culture, and community growth through a vibrant showcase of artwork created by White Buffalo's many talented child, youth, and adult participants. The White Buffalo Youth Council will also be hosting a free community photobooth to help capture the evening's memories.
