“Agatha’s Almanac” by Amalie Atkins (November 7 to Dec 31, 2025)
The AKA Billboard Project features a large-scale image of Agatha, 90-year-old dynamo and the star of Agatha’s Almanac. Layered onto the image are some of the most offbeat and heartfelt audience reviews pulled from Letterboxd, along with information about the film’s release date. The billboard functions as both an ad and an artwork. Agatha, an elderly woman, is unapologetic and seeing her take over a massive billboard feels triumphant, her years of unrecognized labor finally being celebrated. Elderly women are almost never given this kind of visibility. Layered with tender and irreverent quotes from fans, the billboard hits — a playful, heartfelt spotlight on those who connect with Agatha and her unconventional lifestyle. Most of these quotes aren’t curated critic’s words— they’re spontaneous, funny, and deeply felt reactions from viewers. Together, Agatha’s portrait and these voices form a kind of people’s endorsement of the film.AKA STUDIOS:
During the pandemic AKA’s gallery space became free artist studios. This experiment grew a new program collaboration between AKA and Paved: Community Studios. Throughout the year AKA and Paved offer studios free of charge to local artists for 6 month periods. Visit their current cohort of artists, which includes: Cheryl Buckmaster, Maryanna Hardy, Rachel Ormshaw, Nicholas Paradis, and Joshua Steinhauer.
